About Academy

The International Public Association Academy of Navigation and Motion Control (ANUD) is a voluntary association of scientists.

The Academy purpose is to facilitate enhancement, promotion, and socially useful application of scientific knowledge in the field of theory and systems of navigation and motion control.

Academy activities

Membership in Academy

The Academy consists of full and honorary members and members of the sections of young scientists, which exist in the Academy regional branches.

At present the Academy includes 405 members working for various companies, universities and organizations. 352 Russian members of the Academy work in 26 cities.

The Academy membership involves well-known scientists from 9 countries: Germany, Republic of Belarus, Bulgaria, India, Russia, Ukraine, France, USA, and South Korea. They are actively promoting the development of the Academy international contacts.

Basic events

  • In April 1995 the Academy of Navigation and Motion Control was registered by Saint Petersburg Department of Justice as a public association, and in January 2001 it was registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation as an International Public Association.
  • In 1996 the Academy revived the Ostryakov Prize established in 1946.
  • Since 1996 the Academy has been a co-founder of Saint Petersburg International Conference on Integrated Navigation Systems (ICINS).
  • Since 1999 the Academy together with the CSRI Elektropribor have been holding the annual Conference of Young Scientists Navigation and Motion Control.
  • The Academy was involved in holding the AGARD Lecture Series N207 in St. Petersburg (1996), Moscow (1997), Kiev (1997), and Samara (1998).
  • The Academy members annually take part in the Symposium Gyro Technology: at first in Stuttgart, since 2007, in Karlsruhe, and since 2018, in Braunschweig, Germany.
  • Since 2000 the Academy has been an associated member of the International Association of Institutes of Navigation (IAIN).
